Status-respectful.
Approvals.

On reserve, off reserve, status or non-status — auto financing built around your reality, not against it.

We work with First Nations members across British Columbia — including on-reserve customers, where most lenders won't go. Our process accepts Status Card identification and Band-letter verification, and we know the rules around Section 87 and on-reserve registration. No questions you'd hate answering.

On or off

On-reserve repossession protections under federal law mean most non-Indigenous lenders simply won't lend to status First Nations members on reserve. We have lender partners who do — and who treat your status as the starting point, not a complication.

How approval works

Approval that knows the rules.

Many of our team members and lender partners have worked with First Nations clients for years — we know what's needed and what's not.

1

60-second application

No SIN required to start. Tell us about your situation — on or off reserve, employment, vehicle preference. We'll match you with lenders who specialize in your file type.

2

Status-aware lender matching

For on-reserve customers, we work with lenders comfortable with the federal repossession framework and Band-cooperation registration. Off-reserve members access our full network of 10+ Canadian lenders.

3

Drive — with respect from start to finish

Approval, paperwork, vehicle pickup — every step handled with the respect your community deserves. Salaried staff, no commission pressure, no "credit lecture" theatre.

What you'll need

Documents to bring

Bring what you have. We work around gaps and never ask for documentation we don't legally need.

On-reserve customer? Call us before applying. Some lenders require Band cooperation on registration — we'll explain exactly what's needed and walk you through it. No surprises at the end.

Why First Nations members choose AutoYes

The reality most lenders avoid.

Most non-Indigenous lenders

  • Avoid on-reserve lending due to Section 87 repossession complications
  • Don't accept Status Cards as primary ID — request additional Crown documentation
  • Treat Band employment letters with suspicion vs. corporate employer letters
  • Push customers off-reserve as a "solution" — disrespects sovereignty and home

AutoYes Finance

  • Lender partners experienced with on-reserve lending and Band-cooperation frameworks
  • Status Card accepted as primary government ID
  • Band employment letters and on-reserve income treated equivalent to off-reserve income
  • Salaried staff — no commission pressure, no questions you'd hate answering

First Nations — common questions

Questions we hear often. Honest answers.

Drawn from years of conversations with First Nations clients across BC.

Can I get approved if I live on reserve?
Yes — we have lender partners who specifically work with on-reserve customers. Some require Band cooperation on registration; we'll explain exactly what's needed before you commit.
Is my Status Card sufficient ID?
Yes. Federal Status Cards and Secure Certificates of Indian Status are accepted as primary government identification across our lender network.
How does Section 87 affect my loan?
Section 87 of the Indian Act provides important protections for status property on reserve. Our on-reserve lender partners are familiar with how vehicle financing works alongside these protections — your loan terms will be transparent about how registration and repossession work.
Will Band employment count as income?
Yes. Band employment is treated equivalent to any other employer-paid income. Bring your pay stubs or Band employment letter.
Do you have lenders who specialize in First Nations members?
Yes. Within our 10+ lender network, several have decades of experience working with First Nations clients across Canada. We'll match you to the right one for your situation.
I'm non-status — does that change anything?
Process is the same. Non-status First Nations members go through our standard approval flow — your full lender network is available.

Approval, with respect.

60 seconds. No SIN required to start. On or off reserve, status or non-status — every situation welcome.
